In case you din't get to see this from the Gmail Blog, it was poseted on July 24th:
We care about your security today just as much as we did when we launched, which is why we're constantly working on improvements like the recently launched last account activity and remote sign out. Today, we're making it even easier for you to use https to protect your mail every time you access it. We've added an option to Settings to always use https. If you don't regularly log in via unencrypted wireless connections at coffee shops or airports or college dorms, then you might not need this additional layer of security. But if you want to always use https, then this setting makes it super easy. Whenever you forget to type https://mail.google.com, we'll add the https for you. If you already have the https URL bookmarked, using this setting will ensure you access your account via https even when you don't use your bookmark. Any http link to Gmail (for example, the one at the top of Google.com) will be automatically redirected to https.

From The Gmailblog: A tip to set Gmail as your default email client in Firefox 3.
For those of you using newly released Firefox 3, or willing to give it a try, you can take advantage of a new feature that lets you set Gmail as the default for all email links -- those that contain "mailto:" in them. If you're like me and don't have a default email client set up, then clicking these links typically launches an installation wizard for a destkop mail client, or opens some email software that you don't actually use.
Now you can configure Firefox to launch Gmail when you click on email address links and avoid the hassle. The folks over at Lifehacker published these tips on how to set it up:
1) Go to Gmail and sign in. 2) While in Gmail, copy and paste the following into your browser's address bar and hit enter.
javascript:window.navigator.registerProtocolHandler("mailto","https:// mail.google.com/mail/?extsrc=mailto&url=%s","Gmail")

Justin Lanning had a small hit last year with "Behind these Eyes" and released this album with the same name after some good radio play. I thought I'd share the song called "Fingertips" from that album with you this week. Check out Justin at Wikipedia here!.

CLIP GURU is for the Windows user who prefers clipboard storage features unavailable in the standard Windows clipboard. It gives users the ability to recall and reuse current and past clipboard contents, and to optionally save those clips into your own clip Sets for future use. It runs nicely in the background and does not affect the normal use of the Windows clipboard. It simply grabs a copy of everything copied to the clipboard and saves it for you. Clipboard items are saved, based on user preference, and kept available for recall at any time and its free. Check it out because it has some nice features like search and editing clips that Yankee Clipper lacks. It will depend on your taste but I still prefer to use the older Yankee Clipper III (YC3). It does just enough to make my life easier and still have a clip board that does what I need. Try out both and decide for yourself. They are both good in their own way.

or you can try here too!

This week I have a tune from Kathleen Edwards. A nice Canadian girl form Ottawa and Hamilton who released a new album a couple of months ago. I believe "Asking For Flowers" is her third. This one called 'Run" from that album. There are 10 other fine songs there too. Check out Kathleen Edwards on Wikipedia. Hope you enjoy this one.

Firefox is now officially in the record books for receiving the most downloads from a website within a 24 hour period. If you weren't part of the fun, June 17th, I guess it didn't matter. Guinness gave them the record without you! Don't feel bad, download FIREFOX 3 now. You will be glad you did.

From news.cnet.com:
Guinness bestows download record on Firefox
Posted by Stephen Shankland
The de facto registrar of superlative achievements has credited Mozilla for officially setting a record for downloads in a 24-hour period: 8,002,530 copies of Firefox.
Mozilla's Download Day on June 17, whose server-crippling success delayed its official start, sought to popularize the open-source Web browser. Mozilla, which oversees the Firefox project, projected at the time that it cleared 8 million, but the number is now official.
"As the arbiter and recorder of the world's amazing facts, Guinness World Records is pleased to add Mozilla's achievement to our archives," Gareth Deaves, Guinness' records manager, said in a statement.
Though Download Day was a big publicity stunt, it's hard to sniff with too much disdain at the total. To me at least it indicates that people see more in this particular browser than just a bundle of bits to surf the Web; they like its technology, its open-source nature or other attributes, and downloading and using it is an event somewhat akin to suffering in line for hours for rock show tickets or to buy an iPhone.
I'm skeptical that Download Day in and of itself will appreciably shift Firefox's market share results in the short term. But it did probably coax people toward a more modern browser, which Web site operators probably are happy to see, and I wouldn't be surprised if Mozilla managed to sign up more Firefox fanboys through its promotional devices.
Also for the record, Net Applications gave Firefox 3 2.31 percent market share for the entire month of June, compared with 4.28 percent for Safari 3.1, 16.13 percent for Firefox 2, 26.38 percent for Internet Explorer 6, and 46.45 percent for No. 1 IE 7. The statistics are based on actual usage at various major search engines. Because Firefox 3 was released midway through June, the statistics likely will show significantly greater share for it in July.
