Sorry, but I'm still all in a daze about what is happening with FTP at Blogger.com. To top it off one of my wife's best friends died on Friday at a much too early age. So I just can't face doing anything at the moment. Check back later and please keep looking for the positive things in your life.

Eggs Benedict 2010.

April 16th is National Eggs Benedict Day.

National as in U.S. national. of course.

Did you ever think how many countries are invoked in eggs benedict? The sauce is "Dutch", the muffins are "English" and the bacon is "Canadian". It's quite the international dish, namewise, even if it was invented in America.

I am still here but I was a bit disoriented by Blogger.com announcing that FTP is no longer going to be supported. I tried to move this blog to my own space but for some reason Blogger just serves up a 404 "Page not Found". For now I have moved to Blog spot. It is now SkipsRamblings.Blogspot.com. I'll leave it here for now but I don't know what the best long term solution will be. I've poitned Weblog.schrysler.com here so if you use the old link it still works. Also, my mirror at JournalSpace.com is still a way to find me. Stay tuned!

What a week at the Sound Academy. Spoon on Monday and Vampire Weekend on Tuesday night. I can't believe what a great city Toronto is for music. I'm sharing a single released from Spoon's album called "Transference". It's called "Written In Reverse". Just one interesting song from a great album full of them. They are a must see and so is Vampire Weekend. I don't know which I like better. I don't think I can choose. Check out Vampire Weekend at Wikipedia and Spoon too at their Wikipedia listing. Eric Clapton

"It's Easy"

Eric Clapton was at the Air Canada Centre Sunday night performing along with Jeff Beck. To honour this I'm sharing a track from Eric and J.J. Cale's 2006 album "The Road to Escondito". One of Eric's earliest hit songs, "After Midnight", was written by J.J. Cale. This man has been very reclusive. While writing many songs made famous by others, and 11 of the 14 on this album, he is not well known. Clapton talked him into doing this album and taking a more prominent role. Guess he did the same with Jeff yesterday. It was worth the effort.

NET LIMITER is a Freeware program that shows list of all applications communicating over network, connections, transfer rates and more. There is a pay for version but I have been using the free version for a few weeks now and can recommend it highly. It lets you monitor and check traffic in an easy to use format. LIGHTHOUSE had a special Toronto concert performance by on February 13 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre celebrating the band's 40th anniversary.
Lighthouse burst on the scene in 1969 with a unique blend of rock, jazz and classical influences that defied all conventions. They took Canada by storm, receiving three successive Group of the Year Junos and an Outstanding Male Performance Juno for Bob McBride. Fans responded by buying nine gold and platinum albums with international hits such as "One Fine Morning", "Sunny Days", "Hats Off to the Stranger", "1849" and "Pretty Lady". Always innovative, Lighthouse collaborated and toured across the country with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company; wrote and performed the score for Prometheus Bound with Shakespearean actress Irene Worth; were the first rock band to headline the Newport, Monterey, and Boston Globe Jazz Festivals and the first to perform with a symphony orchestra. Lighthouse was the only act other than Jimi Hendrix asked to perform a second night among groups that included The Who, Miles Davis, Joni Mitchell, The Doors and Chicago. Since reuniting in 1992 Lighthouse have not strayed from their roots emphasizing virtuoso solos, tight ensemble playing, soaring vocal harmonies and a heady mix of good old rock 'n' roll. 2009 marked the band's fortieth anniversary and they celebrated with a double DVD/CD album released in October by ole/Universal Music. Forty Years of Sunny Days includes a remastered CD of classic hits paired with a new live concert DVD recorded in 5.1 Surround Sound. Lighthouse is enjoying a renaissance of its music lately, with artists such as Akon and Santana recently releasing covers of Lighthouse songs as well as artists in Asia. This version of Lighthouse has been together for seventeen years and features an all-star lineup with founding musicians Skip Prokop (drums), Paul Hoffert (keys), and Ralph Cole (guitar) along with Russ Little (trombone), Steve Kennedy (sax), Chris Howells (trumpet), and Simon Wallis (sax). Great lake Swimmers "Everything Is Moving So Fast" or you can try here too!

On Saturday Great Lake Swimmers gave a concert at Trinity-St. Pauls United Church. I knew I had to share a song from last years Polaris nominated album called "Lost Channels". The entire album is so great that I couldn't make up my mind for a long time. After listening for the third time I decided to share "Everything Is Moving So Fast". Check out their wiki.
