INTRODUCTION

The Golden Party Badge came with several pins and attaching devices. The most common is the ordinary "safety pin" type attachment attached by a pin plate. Due to the fact that these badges were worn on a daily basis as an indication of status, it is not uncommon to find that these pins broke, either the clasp, the pin itself, or the pinplate separated entirely from the back of the badge. Period repairs in a variety of fashions are not uncommon, done either by the owner or professionally by a jeweler.

In addition to the common pin back, the large pin was available with a vertical "military" pin, for wear on a uniform pocket. Although not particularly uncommon, this type of attachment is much sought after by collectors and attracts a premium price.

The only other officially available attachment device was a tab for the 24mm badge for wear through the buttonhole on civilian lapels. Screw posts, when original, were private modifications.

There were also many unofficial modifications, including stickpins, clasps and safety chains, to prevent loss. Judging from the number of official requests in the records for replacement Golden Party Badges, pin failure led to frequent losses of this imporant award.
