All in all, a very nice kit. There are a few little quirks that I encountered during construction that you should watch for during construction:
  • Front Cowling - when installing the mesh in the nose, be aware that the top of the mesh is very close to the headlight reflector and you'll probably need to trim it so it won't interfere with the headlight reflector.
  • Carbs - I mixed up parts C12 and C13 and as a result the taller carbs are on the outside of the fuel bar rather than in the middle. Not really a problem since the fuel tank covers the mistake and they don't interfer with the fuel tank. Usually Tamiya has keys to prevent this kind of thing.
  • Rear Turn Signal Housings - when I cemented these to the taillight assembly, I got them angled up a bit. To avoid this, install the housings with the bike on it's wheels so you can tell if they are level.
  • Seat - does not sit on the cowling very positively. There is too much play and you'll have to glue this in place in order for it to stay aligned with the cowling. I usually leave the seats unfastened, so you can see some of the frame.
  • Under Cowls - I cannot add the left under cowl as the end of the radiator interfers with the cowl. Everything looks fine, so I'm not sure what I did wrong. Once you install the radiator, test fit the front cowling and under cowls before the cement on the radiator dries.
  • Wheels - when noting the tire tread/wheel go by the profile in the appropriate step. The Markings and side views on the box sides show the wheels backwards. I noticed this once installing the front wheel.
