Ray has been a member of numerous technical review boards in Canada and internationally. In recognition for his contribution to the engineering community Ray was made a Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada in 1991, and in 1993 became President of the Institute. Ray has authored numerous professional papers, particularly in the fields of hydroelectric engineering and rock mechanics.
