welcome to my lo-fi no buzzers, buttons or blinkers website
or in other words... my very partial online portfolio
a selection of album covers (cd packages), posters and other musical ephemera as well as some assorted non-music thangs
this is mostly recent work (the last 2 years) and i have thrown in a few favourites from the last 3-4 years
there are almost 150 pieces of work up here but i've done 400 plus album designs to date
plus hundreds of pieces of assorted paraphenalia:
posters, postcards, press kits, promotions etc (man i love alliteration)
i should also mention that i proudly hold one Juno Award and five Juno Award Nominations all for album design
as well as two

This is the cover for the new James Brown CD (the Canadian Jazz guitarist not the Soul Legend)
it's called "sevendaze"
i'm thrilled that James wants to ttravel a daring path and have an art only cover
no name or title on the front... just image
the name and title will be on a sticker and thrown
away with the shrink wrap
note: for this cover i started out by creating a large 24" x 24" digital painting titled "endless daze"
this cover is a cropped close-up detail of this painting

there are no actual letters or pieces of type in this painting...
it is just a lovely optical illusion created by filling in some of the
negative space with with colours and textures

the COMBINED age of these three siblings from tupelo, mississippi is 37. meet "the homemade jamz blues band", the youngest blues band in america!
what's so outrageous about this young trio isn't just their age... but how good they actually are!
to quote Mr. B.B. King ? ์in my 82 years i have never seen something musically so remarkable as these young people.๎
Kyle (13), Taya (9) & Ryan Perry (15) made blues history last year. They finished 2nd in the 2007 International Blues Challenge in Memphis.

this is a poster for a fundraising/tribute concert for and to oliver schroer... one of the world's most innovative and creative fiddle players
oli is a good friend and is currently battling leukemia / bone marrow cancer
this is for olifiddle2... oli fiddle1 took place
in june 2007 over 3 nights at hugh's room in toronto and as olifiddle 2
will surely be... it was a resounding success

a different kind of cover this time... it's the cover of the new "folk oriented?" cookbook
Folk Food and Folk Tales - a cool book full of tried and true recipes and great stories by roots musicians from around the world
published by the North American Folk Alliance as a fundraising tool and fun promotion
i conceived the idea for the visual and did the layout and type design... but the actual frying pan / guitar illustration was done by my friend, vunder-uber-illustrator david rumfelt.

I was very happy to contribute my art and design to this very special project.
This is a very special memorial disc to Doug Riley aka "Dr. Music" , a Canadian musical giant who passed away earlier this year.
"Song for the Doctor" is a song written by Debbie Fleming to honour Doug and is a monumental "We Are The World" sized honour
featuring 43 of Canada's finest vocalists and a few of Canada's finest musicians... all friends and people who love
and have worked with Doug in the past. All profits from sales and downloads of this limited edition single
will go to the Doug Riley Memorial Scholarship Fund, Faculty of Music, University of Toronto
