Early Music Workshops

TEMC Vocal Circle

The TEMC Vocal Circle is a recreational, non-performing reading
group. Over the course of the season, stress-free, musically-
friendly sessions are led by early music specialists such as Frank
Nakashima, David Fallis, Paul Jenkins and Gary Fisher. All are welcome. The Vocal Circle is held on the last Monday of each month, at 7:30 p.m., from September to June (please note that there is no meeting in December). Admission to this circle is free to TEMC members, or $5.00 to non-members. if you would like more info.

TEMC Pastime With Good Company

Pastime With Good Company is a series of workshops for viols, featuring visiting guest coaches and local professional teachers. Sessions are usually 2 and 1/2 hours long, held on Saturday afternoons. Pastime events are open to gamba players at all levels of experience, with classes tailoured to the needs and interests of the registrants. Community Baroque Orchestra of Toronto

The Community Baroque Orchestra of Toronto (CBOT) was founded in 2004 as a forum for passionate, reasonably skilled amateur string and continuo players to learn Baroque performance practice and repertoire on period instruments and in a congenial atmosphere. The group functions as a collective, and rehearses Sunday evenings from mid-September to May under the guidance of outstanding local professionals. Contact for more info.

TEMPO

The Toronto Early Music Players' Organization is a chapter of the American Recorder Society, whose members play recorders, viols, flutes and other early instruments. TEMPO sponsors workshops that are typically held the first Sunday of each month, from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. at Lansing United Church (at Sheppard and Yonge Streets). CAMMAC Readings

The Toronto area chapter of Canadian Amateur Musicians/Musiciens Amateurs du Canada occasionally sponsors early music-related reading sessions at which participants typically rehearse a given work, and then perform it for each other.
