St. Philip Neri House - The Catholic chaplaincy at Ryerson University

Jamaica Mission

Please note:  for the academic year 2004/2005, St. Philip Neri House will participate in a pilgrimage to World Youth Day in Cologne, Germany, August 16-21.  With such a major undertaking being the focus of this year's fundraising, we will not be organizing our customary mission to Jamaica.  If there is sufficient interest, a mission trip might be arranged for students willing to be responsible for covering their own costs, either personally or through individual sponsorship.

After four years, the annual mission trip to Jamaica has become the centrepiece of our work at St. Philip Neri House. Students and staff fly to Kingston after the April exam period for approximately ten days of demanding, hands-on work with the sick, disabled, and abandoned in the care of the Missionaries of the Poor and the Mustard Seed Communities.

Nourished by daily Mass and prayer our pilgrims bring comfort to body and soul --bathing, feeding, sharing a song-- for people striving to live, or facing death from crippling disabilities or AIDS.

Mission Jamaica is open to all Ryerson students and alumni, and to others by special arrangement. Each participant must pay a portion of the cost and be active in the fundraising campaign.
