 SAWW,
a Canadian-based organization, was established in 1997. Created, as a
 forum,
to commemorate South African Women’s Day. The day, August 9th, 1956,
when 20 000 women from all over South Africa, marched together for freedom.
Women, representing all of socio-economic backgrounds converged.

forward. A diverse group of women, SAWW is dedicated to fostering the

			Women's March

2006 has been declared the "Year of
the Women in South Africa". Its significance arises from the fact
that it marks the 50th anniversary of the women's march to the Union
Buildings on August 9, 1956. Women contributed a great deal and made
unprecedented sacrifices as their contribution to defeat their
			oppression. |
