Welcome to the Unofficial
Mickey Spillane Mike Hammer Site

Mickey Spillane
"How c-could you?" she gasped.
I only had a moment before talking to a corpse, but I got it in.
"It was easy," I said.
The previous version of this site began with the first line from the first Mike Hammer book, I, The Jury. The lines above are from the end of the same book. You could read plenty into that, but there's really a good reason why I chose to begin with it. I recently watched an old interview with Mickey Spillane. In the interview, he was asked about the sex and violence in his books, more specifically, about the ending to I, The Jury. He explains how the scene operates on many levels, that it wasn't just some lurid confrontation between a woman killer and the man sworn to avenge her victim. That segment of the interview ends with Spillane repeating the last line, "It was easy", stretching out each word. This, to me, is the essence of Mike Hammer and the appeal of Mickey Spillane's writing. Mike Hammer is a real "never let 'em see ya sweat" kind of guy, whose strength lies not only in his fists and his gun, but also in his moral convictions and sense of justice, with no exceptions.

Now on to the introduction to this site. If you're an old time Mickey Spillane/Mike Hammer fan, I'm sure there's not a lot here that will take you by suprise. If you've never heard of Mike Hammer( What rock have you been living under? ) or you've come here looking for information on tools or a washed up rapper, you're outta luck. Unless, of course, you're into action, tough guys with their sleeves rolled up, broads who pack heat, packs of Luckies half crumpled and a fistful of trouble behind every corner.

So, what's this site all about? What's in it for me, you ask? For starters, there's a list of books he's written, then there's some excerpts from the Mike Hammer books, to either refresh your memory, or to give you a taste of how good his writing can be. Speaking about his writing, I've also written up reviews on all of his Hammer books. Please keep in mind I don't review books for a living.;) One of my favourite sections is the book covers sections. This section contains scanned covers of a number of his books, which to me are works of art, an art that seems to be missing from many modern day books. I could go on to describe this entire site, but I'm sure you'd enjoy discovering the site for yourself.

One last thing, I've added a guestbook, so feel free to sign it.
