Thanks for dropping by my site. I'd like to thank those of you who have left compliments here on this page, it makes all the work worthwhile knowing at least a few people appreciate the finished product, which is not to say that this site is done. Not by a long shot. By the way, I'm Not Mickey Spillane, nor do I represent him, for those of you who aren't sure.

have always been a great fan of Hammer movies and novels. Recently watched I the Jury and Kiss Me Deadly and compared to the crap they're churning out today it's true they don't make them like they used to!

I grew up in SC, but have been in Florida for many years. Was curious how Mickey Spillane ended up in Murrells Inlet, SC. I know the area well and all the ghost stories, etc. Did the spooky nature of the coastal SC have anything to do with it, or was it just the fishing? I used to go to Pawleys Island every summer in my youth, and am well acquainted with all the local lore, and used to dine at Oliver's Lodge and the Inlet Kitchen. I don't know if it's still around, but the really best place to eat was a local hole in the wall called the Clipper Ship, which may no longer be in business. However, back in 1967 or 1966 I did have an experience with the spirit of Alice at the All Saints Episcopal Church one night. This experience has haunted me to this day. I think Mickey may have been lured by the abundant fishing there, but more importantly whether he knows it or not, anyone who has ever stayed in the area for any length of time gets drawn into the strange spiritual aspect of the SC coast. Any enlightenment would be appreciated. Wish Mickey well; hope he remembers what drew him to the SC coast, especially Murrells Inlet, or hope he can dictate it for someone else to write down.

Say, why don't you have a scan of the cover for the 1st paperback edition of I, THE JURY? It's not quite the equal of the second cover (the one shown), but still, it's nice in itself. Also. it's historically important.

Fine site you have here! If ever you contact Mickey, tell him for me that I have re-read his Mike Hammer books (particularly those of the 50's) more times than I can count. This puts him in a very select group since there are very few authors (sorry, Mickey- I meant writers!) whose books I want to re-read, much less CAN re-read! My best wishes to Mickey and tell him to stop dawdling and turn out another book!

Mickey Spillane has been appearing at the 2002 Palm Springs Film Noir Festival with Rhonda Fleming, Jane Russell, Bevery Garland and Ann Savage -- June 7-June 9, 2002. He's having a ball with the ladies! Just returned from Rhonda Fleming's party, where Mickey held court. A true legend! Best Wishes from Palm Springs.

Greetings, from a real Mike Hammer, to my fictional counterpart and all of the fans of Mickey Spillane/Mike Hammer. Having been born in 1953, the character has been with me all of my life and to answer the question, no, my parents did not name me because of the famous detective! I remember the first TV Mike Hammer on through the Stacy Keach era and I have to say that it has always been fun having this name. Great website, keep up the good work Mike Hammer

Back around 1977 or so I was a uniformed trooper assigned to the Newburgh barrracks and Mickey locked his keys in his car behind the Holiday Inn. I remember helping him out he was dressed all in white and was a very nice man. Being an ex Newburgh cop I had often heard of him and was lead to believe that Mike Hammer was fashioned after a former Newburgh police officer. I once met the manager of a local motel in the city of Newburgh and he told me some stories about mickey and the 45 caliber handgun he wrote in his books. does anyone else recall any similar stories?

There's a scene in "Kiss Me Deadly" where the bad guy opens the box containing radioactive material and it glows all over him and eventually burns down the guy and the house he's in. When I saw "Pulp Fiction" where the two guys (Samuel L. Jackson & John Travolta) open the suitcase and see whatever unknown is in it, it glows all over them, and I wonder if Quentin Tarantino got that scene from "Kiss Me Deadly." If Mickey Spillane wants to act in a movie, there's a part for him in my screenplay "Sister Wraith." Please read more about it at http://hollywoodruff.com and get in touch! (I'm just the lowly author.)

I also introduced my son to "I, the Jury" and now he's hooked. He's finished "My Gun is Quick" and is almost through "Vengeance is Mine". He wants to read them all in order.

Great stories. I am rereading them after many years. I never read all Mickeys books, but hope to over the next year or so. Mickeys style can even be seen in Frank Herbert's writting (Dune Series). Lot's of sub plots that are brought together at the end. Same applies to Tom Clancy. Some writters "just got it!"

I've read Mickey Spillane's "Black Alley" and after that I think that the good old tough guy Mike Hammer is gone. "Black Alley" is really to soft. I still like the old "Mike Hammer"-novels but today I prefer Andrew Vachss because I think that he writes the hardboiled way, which Mickey Spillane does in the old days. But ... I also wait for the next "Mike Hammer"-novel ...

It's nice to see Ed Robbins (illustrator of the Mike Hammer comic strip), getting some well deserved attention. This fiercely independent artist illustrated for all the "big boy" publishers during "The Golden Age of Comics", but never received any recognition -- probably because he, like Mike Hammer, never took any B.S. from anyone.

Just for the record here: The November 17-23 USA issue of TV Guide has an article about Sherri Spillane, Mickey's ex-wife. She once graced many of the covers of his books in scantily dressed, if dressed at all, femme-fatale fashion (eg. "The Erection Set - 1972). Now she's an agent for several semi-famous fringe stars of reality TV shows. In this time of nostalgia for those better days of wine and roses, it's too bad they don't talk much any more. But it was good to read that article and recall those days as well as to be brought up to date.

Nice to see the Mike Hammer novels finally being re-printed in 3-in-1 volumes. Now I only need "The Twisted Thing" to once again complete my collection. I had them all prior to moving to England from Georgia, U.S.A., nearly three years ago. Unfortunately, due to lack of time and space, I was forced to leave them all behind. Surprisingly enough, I have managed to find some of Mickey's books in England that apparently were never published in the U.S.A.! One called "The Flier" and a few others which are collections of his earlier short stories! The only other one of his books that I don't have now is "Tomorrow I Die". I have to say that even here in England, as well as in the U.S.A., that used and second-hand copies (even paperbacks) of Mickey's books are much in demand and are extremely hard to find. It all just attests to his ongoing popularity. Thank you and keep up the great work. Sincerely, Mike Davidson. dmdavidson@talk21.com

Roco, It's been a couple of years since I checked your site. It was wonderful then, but more so now. I have bought and I am rereading the original Mike Hammer books that are currently being reprinted three at a time. As to covers, I have an original cover of The Snake. That is the only cover other than One Lonely Night that depicts Velda. And I'll have to admit in the 60s as a teenager I bought The Twisted Thing because of the cover. Mickey Spillane's name and a sexy woman on the cover proved to be irrestible. I started my reading of Spillane in the early 50s. I was fortunate enough to buy (but not keep) many of the books with their original covers. I'm in my 50s now, but I still have never found another author that makes me want to turn the page like Mickey Spillane does. Your site does both him and his character justice. Later, Doc

Great site. I have all but 3 of Mickey's books. I first came across these as a child rummaging through a neighbours attic, (I, The Jury) and spent many years obtaining the collection I now have. Most through used book stores. I would never part with any of these great books. My favourites of course the Mike Hammer series. I hope to see Mickey write another book. Keep up the good work with the site.

I appreciate your thoughtful and correctly reverent website for Man-among-men Mickey Spillane. I already have most of the first editions that I want, or else I wouldn't tell you about the Book Baron in Anaheim, CA which has the largest Spillane collection that I have seen in a used book store in California. I would like to pass along a possibly apocryphal story the owner of the above mentioned store told me. Another book dealer found an immaculate first edition of "I, the Jury" and wanted it signed by MS. Through publishing contacts, the dealer acquired MS's home address and sent the book to his home. Several months later, he received the book back with a .45 caliber hole in it and an unsigned note which said, "I do not autograph books sent to my home." Thought you would like to hear this story. Even if not true, it should be.
