Below you will find suggestions that you can do to promote the OUR monarchy. They are very simple to do, yet highly effective.
Study the benefits of monarchy
[ Arguments for Monarchy
The link above provides a wealth of information to help you dispel anti-monarchist (or republican) myths.

Argue the republican myths
[ Republican Myths ]
If you come across republicans, you'll notice that their arguments are weak, and rely on the current problems of the Royal Family. Always try to make a rebuttal to these arguments. The  link above will give you a good idea of what to expect and how to counter republican motives.

Discuss Monarchy with others
Everyone knows
that word of mouth is often the best way to spread ideas around. If your friends don't know much about the monarchy (very likely), speak to them about it. Try to give them an objective account of Canada's monarchical government.

Write an essay on the subject
There is no better way to draw the attention of your fellow students to our monarchy than to write an essay about it. This works particularly well in seminar or tutorial classes, where there is an open discussion. Or you can write an article for your school newspaper about the benefits of our monarchy.

Post to Usenet Newsgroups
The Usenet is an effective method to reach thousands of readers. If you run across a debate over the monarchy in the newsgroups , don't be afraid to reply. Also, why not place the URL address of this
page in your newsgroup postings? This way, others can learn more about the monarchy.

Link to Monarchist websites
If you have your own web page, why not put a link to a monarchist website? Remember that if you do include a link, send the owner an e-mail with your URL address. This way, your link will most likely be reciprocated (at least with this website). This will direct monarchist to the respective home page.

Sign the Monarchist Petition
[ Petition and Charter ]
Simply sign the online petition in the above page. Every signature counts! Once there are enough signatures, they will be sent to the Prime Minister.
Join Monarchist Organizations
[ Monarchist League of Canada ]
In Canada, there is currently only the Monarchist League which promotes the monarchy, and keeps republicanism in Canada under check. Joining is inexpensive and you do get a nice quarterly magazine. The more members these organizations have, the least likely will Ottawa try to pass republican bills.

Draw attention to our Monarchy
Set up a table in a public place, and spread around pro-monarchy leaflets. You can also try to obtain names on a petition to be sent to the MP for your area. The weekend is usually the best time to do this. You can also spread around pro-monarchy petitions to be signed. There are books available at many public and university libraries that will offer information on how to set up a proper petition for submission to Parliament.

Call-in shows
Radio and television talk shows reach a vast audience. If there is ever a program about the future of the monarchy - phone, fax and or e-mail (although not all are available at all times) them up and make your opinion heard.

Fax, E-mail or write to the media
The media is always on the look out for show ideas. Send them a letter outlining your monarchist ideas. Addresses can be easily found by checking books such as the Matthews Media Guide or the Canadian Almanac and Sourcebook in the reference section of your local library. An e-mail list of major Canadian newspapers is on the right.

Send a letter to the editor
A letter to the editor is an effective way to reach hundreds of thousands of newspaper readers with your views. This method is extremely important, since most media sources are republican, it is essential that your views are heard. You can send a letter to the editor of the newspaper near you. (Note: include your telephone number, return address, e-mail address, and try to limit your piece to 200 words)

Write to your MPP, MP and the party leaders
The more letters our friends in the House of Commons get, the less likely they are to petition for an idea of a republic. You can write to your MP online via snail-mail without needing a stamp if you address your letter to:

The Prime Minister of Canada
Office of the Prime Minister
80 Wellington Street
Ottawa
K1A 0A2
Fax: 613-941-6900

YOUR MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT
[MP's name], MP
House of Commons
Parliament Building
Ottawa, Ontario
K1A 0A6

Call Information Canada at:

1-800 O-CANADA

If you are unsure of your MP's name, or you can use the listings at the:

[ Parliamentary Internet ]

or check in the reference section of your library for such books as the Canadian Parliamentary Guide or the Almanac of Canadian Politics.

You can show your support for continuing the monarchy by sending messages to leading Ottawa politicians, send e-mails to:

  • [ Stephen Harper
    Prime Minister of Canada (Liberal)

  • [ Stéphane Dion ]
    Leader of the Conservative Party
    Leader of the Opposition
    (Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition)

  • [ Jack Layton ]
Leader of the New Democratic Party

  • [ Gilles Duceppe ]
    Leader of the Bloc Québécois
