Early in September, violence erupted all across Toronto, and police were barely able to contain the situation. Although initial reports suggested the chaos was linked to organized crime, this does not seem to be the case. In all, almost 30 people are death, and many more were injured after a series of petty, yet brutal thefts and random acts of destruction across the city. In some cases the thieves stole little and seemed only interested in causing trouble. Police are also continuing to crack down on organized crime, and hundreds of people have been questioned and a dozen arrested in a sweeping series of raids all across the city. Mayor Mel Lastman lauded the efforts of the RCMP and Metro Police to put down this cancer, but expressed concern that many innocent citizens were being killed or wounded in the crossfire. To date, intense, almost military exchanges of gunfire between criminals and police have killed sixteen civilians, with no end in sight.
Etienne Dejardans, chairman of the North American War Council, has agreed to consider Clan Brujah's claim to the Domain of Detroit. After meeting with Neil Pendleton, a Brujah diplomat, he has accepted that Detroit is properly a contested Domain, and that the parties should settle their claims "in a peaceful and dignified manner, thus maintaining the ideals and goals of the Camarilla." It is expected that a neutral arbitrator of some kind will be appointed to lower tension and ensure that the situation in Detroit is stabilized. Hopes are high on the part of the Brujah that the arbitrator will rule in their favour and award them Praxis of the city.
All across Camarilla Domains in Canada and the United States, Sabbat Kindred have been engaging in operations seemingly intended to occupy Camarilla resources in protecting the Masquerade. Clan Tremere has distinguished itself by dealing forcefully with the intruders and ensuring that the Masquerade has been protected in several cities.
In London, England, the deadline for the withdrawal of Clan Tremere from that city has come and gone. No Tremere are believed to have left, and as such, Lady Anne of London has declared that their lives are forfeit. Clan Gangrel has not forgiven the Tremere for their theft of a Gangrel spiritual item several years ago, and dozens of Gangrel have arrived in London to carry out the wishes of Lady Anne. Vienna, for it's part, has remained silent on the ongoing power struggle in London as they have traditionally done in the past. It is believed that Clan Tremere accepts its role as the advisors of the Camarilla, but has no desire to contest Domain with the Ventrue.
Malkavian Elders in Europe through Harpies have announced that they have unlocked the secrets to the Discipline of Dementation, which they have now added to their repertoire in the fight against the Sabbat. They've done so through in-depth interrogations of the many infiltrators within Clan Malkavian taken prisoner during the purges of the last few months.
