Rumours from Toronto for Late January

Many thanks to Susan Manley and Mark B. for compiling this rumour sheet.

Remember: ALL of the items on this page are fictional. All persons, cities, gods, and worlds on this page are imaginary. Any coincidence of names is regretted.

Sewer Damage
Heavy snow and run-off from yesterday’s above zero temperatures have extensively damaged certain areas of the sewer system.

Underworld Quiet
Rumours abound of an underworld truce brokered by the Catholic church. A spokesperson for the church denied any knowledge of such negotiations.

Former Prince?
Connal MacArran has announced that he has changed his name to "The Ventrue Formerly Known as Prince". In a related story, Atlantis Films has announced a low budget Canadian knock-off of the cult hit "Masters of the Universe". The new movie will be entitled "Master of Toronto", and will star an actor who is a look-a-like of Toronto Mayor Mel Lastman. In one scene the Lastman character declares, "I am Prince of Toronto. Who can stop me? Nobody!!!"

Financial Fracas
The financial world is gearing up for a major showdown. European speculation is that a local Giovanni/Ventrue conflict is on the horizon for control of the city’s financial sector.

Strange Weather
Moses Znaimer, president of CITY-TV, was overheard in a trendy cyber-café saying that, in his opinion, the storm was "not entirely natural".

Shovel Shortage
A severe shovel shortage has hit the metropolitan Toronto area. A Canadian Tire representative stated that this was no doubt caused by the need to shovel snow but, he added, "you never know".

Gallery Infusion
A new gallery opened this week downtown, funded by an anonymous donation. One critic given an advance showing said that it is "a breath of fresh air in the Toronto artistic community." "With all the government cuts, it’s heartwarming to see prominent members of the public stepping forward to support the arts" said another. Observers noted that this was the first major infusion of funds in some time.

Mall Magic!
Unlike most other locations in Toronto, the Eaton Centre reported no problems with snow accumulation. Somehow sidewalks and nearby access areas were kept free from the ravages of the elements. One security guard said, "It's like all the snow disappeared by magic."

Public Apology
Earlier this week the actor Aden Darcy publicly apologized for taking advantage of Arkady Fontaine. The actor apparently impersonated Fontaine at a party at which several prominent members of the Toronto artistic community were present. Darcy explained that it was part of a modern performance art piece that he enacted with several of his friends.

Video Released!
The long awaited music video by Lucian Hawke was finally released last week after several production delays. "No matter how much you want to hate it, you can't" said one critic. "The best video you've ever seen" said another. Apparently, several prominent Kindred of Toronto make cameo appearances.
