Rumours from Toronto for January 1996

Ironside's party was a bust. Our lovely Archon Ironside held a party at the King Edward Hotel this December 26th. By all reports it was poorly attended and somewhat of a bore. A game of All Fools Day was held, where the positions of power in the city were swapped with the lowliest of neonates. By all accounts chaos ensued, Elders behaved very poorly and the neonates were just confused. The game was called early by Archon Ironside, who was quoted as saying, "This just goes to show why Elders are Elders and neonates are neonates!". Ironside claims that there was not enough time to plan or prepare for this event, so he had the lovely Lady Tabitha and Wilde prepare the evening's festivities for him. A task that they shall not be called on for some time to come if Ironside reaction is anything to go by. The party was crashed by an unknown mime (most likely a Malkavian) and a few that Ironside viewed as undesirables, namely Don Evangelo Giovanni, Lord Andrew Rathinhelde and a Bushi who neglected to present himself. It is unknown whether Bern Darkmoor and his coterie qualify as undesirable but they behaved inappropriately.

The Elysium site The Rivers has been destroyed. A military assault by a supposed Black Operations team blew up the site for reasons unknown at this time. The Toreadors are livid at the destruction of such a great work of art.

Ottawa is now under Marshall Law. Units of the Canadian military with the aid of some US military advisors and CSIS have been tasked to uphold a dusk to dawn curfew in response to problems in the Nation's Capital. Underworld activities in the city seen to be growing very rapidly as well as terrorist activity that resulted in the blowing up of a part of the University of Ottawa campus. This and strangely escalating level of violence have been the major reason for the calling of Marshall Law.

Speaking of property damage, a building in the Eglinton and Leslie area mysteriously blew up on the dawn of December 27th. No one seems to know the cause of the explosion but terrorists are suspected, as residue of high explosives were found at the site.

There have been a number of strange occurrences reported around Toronto during the past month. Unexplainable phenomena such as pockets of sunlight seen in the middle of the night, unexplained disappearances of people and unidentified bodies showing up in ravines, a rain of fish in the downtown core, mists and fog in winter, very strong lighting storms for this time of year and a very strong slowdown in trading at the TSE.

Religious recruitment and military enlistment are both showing signs of strong growth. This is thought by some to be in reaction to the extremely depressed economy.

A large block of property on the Toronto islands is going up for auction. The rumours of this land auction have caused a flurry of speculation in the real- estate market as many businesses and private individuals would kill their grandmothers for the chance at these prime locations.

There have been many complaints made to the city government about the strange festival that is being held in High Park. Residents of the area around the south end of the park have been complaining about noise and strange debauchery for several weeks now. The city has been unable to shut the festival down due to certain problems with it's licensing department. The police have been unwilling to press any charges as no laws seem to have been broken in this public park.
