The Prince: Meredith James of Clan Toreador.
The Seneschal: Marcus Fox of Clan Brujah.
The Harpy: Alixander Wheelwright-Rook of Clan Toreador.
The Sheriff: Tracer of Clan Gangrel.
The Keeper of Elysium: Vilos Cohagen of Clan Toreador, assisted by Mads of Clan Brujah.
This evening was one of great interest for the Kindred of Toronto, as it was the first Elysium since Meredith James had ascended the throne, and she no doubt had several new ideas as to how she wished the city to be run. In addition, there were several visiting dignitaries from the neighbouring cities of Oshawa and Peterborough, including Wolfsbane, the Prince of Oshawa. Even Torkidon, the infamous Prince of Pembroke, arrived to pay his respects.
Early in the evening, the Harpy, appeared on stage to make several announcements. However, before he began, he looked exectantly at Shasta, the Gangel Primogen, who for some reason yelled "Suck it!" This seemed to satisfy the Harpy, who then proceeded.
The Harpy found Mads of Clan Brujah to be Loyal in the eyes of the Camarilla. He also announced that a position once existed in the domain of Toronto was to be revived, that of Herald. This position, as the Harpy described it, was basicly that of a glorified secretary. If one wanted to speak to the Prince, one had to make an appointment through the Herald. Those with higher status would be given priority. Elliot Fontaine of Clan Toreador was named to the position.
The Harpy also warned those gathered to respect status, and that those who had high status had earned it, and therefore had also earned the right not to be interupted by those whose status was less than what they held (but the Harpy also stated that emergencies were obvious exceptions to that rule). At this point the Prince interjected to say that if this dictate was not followed, and if offense was severe enough, the Harpy will strip status from the offender.
Prince then made a personal request, not as the Prince, but as Meredith James. She said "Elysium is a place where people are polite to each other, so be polite."
"Or the Harpy might have to lay the smack down!" yelled Shasta.
If any were puzzled by this outburst, it was quickly forgotten when some of those gathered pointed out that in Europe these things were understood. But to clarify the matter even further, the new Keeper of Elysium, Vilos Cohagen, stated that no offensive vampiric disciplines were to be used in Elysium. Someone from the crowd asked the Keeper to define 'offensive disciplines'. William Rider, a recent Malkavian arrival in the city, spoke up, stating "I've been told that domination of the mind is an offensive discipline, yet Presence is not. Yet I feel that it is a domination of the heart, and I find it offensive!"
At this point a heated discussion broke out over the merits of this point of view, and the Prince suggested that those with concerns debate the issue, and have Vilos bring their concerns to her. She then left the stage.
Later in the evening, the Prince announced that during the upcoming Primogen meeting, the primogen would be asked to put in requests for 'domain'. These would not be domain in the 'traditional' sense, but they would be areas of the city which individuals and Clans would be asked to take care of, and look out for suspicious people and/or activities. They would also serve as feeding grounds.
The Prince also announced that a Nosferatu Primogen had been named. Ferran Espina Llopart would now be sitting on the Primogen Council.
At this point William Rider asked "Why are we going through all of this? It will just be changing again when you're no longer Prince, won't it?"
The Prince seemed surprised, and a bit angered by this. She replied "I don't know. Why don't you tell me when I'm no longer prince?" To which Rider responded "From what I've heard that won't be long." This caused a slight commotion within the crowd, which was only increased when Rider continued. "Meredith is not long as Prince. Why should we go through this rigmarole if we'll just have to do it again?" Needless to say, several took Rider aside, and spoke with him about his opinions in private.
There was also another Malkavian present that night who deserves mention. Originally, she claimed to be a member of Clan Ventrue, but it was discovered that this was false, possibly becasue of her behaviour. She keep raving on and on about someone she called the Patriarch, although getting sense out her was problematic at best. She tried to kill herself several times during the course of the evening by slitting her wrists and setting herself on fire, possibly inspired by her fear of this 'Patriarch'.
Finally, at the end of the evening, the Prince announced that Marcus Fox of Clan Brujah was stepping down as Seneschal, after holding the position for only a few weeks. No official reason was given, but it was afterwards rumoured that Marcus said that holding the position was "giving me a sore ass". The Prince then stated that the new Seneschal was Shasta of the Gangrel. At this point Shasta tackled the Prince, which caused an uproar, until it was realized that Perish of Clan Toreador was attempting to set the raving (and now gasoline-soaked) Malkavian on fire! Shasta was merely attempting to protect his Prince, and both Perish and the Malkavian were quickly subdued. They were then taken to a vault in the basement of the theatre to be interrogated. Unfortunately, not much was learned before Perish succeeded in setting the Malkavian alight, and due to her then flammable state, she expired quickly. Upon the Malkavian's death, Perish revealed that the Malkavian had dominated her, and what appeared to be murder was in fact suicide, although a very unorthodox one. The Tremere confirmed Perish's story of domination, and there was speculation that the deceased Malkavain was a member of the Sabbat, although the truth of this may never be known.
