The Elysium of Late October 1996

Session Five of the Chronicle "Sins of Our Fathers".

"The main object of a revolution is the liberation of man . . . not the interpretation and application of some transcendental ideology."

- Jean Genet (1910-86), French playwright and novelist.

Rumours heard

The Lord of York: Shamus Kleo Andrews.
The Harpy: Valencia of the Tremere.
The Sheriff: Loucan Layfay of the Samedi.

This Elysium was held on October 15th, in the year of our Lord 1996. Once again, most likely out of habit, it was held at the Savage Garden, a club on Queen Street.

This evening, Lord Shamus decided that he needed advisors, and so he declared that anyone who wished to advise him on matters of state would be interviewed by Ophelia Vale of Clan Toreador, Simon Friedmont of Clan Ventrue, and Lady Jezebel of the Daughters of Cacophony. These three would decide if an applicant had the requisite expertise to be advisors to the Lord of Toronto.

It is said that while the applicants were being interviewed, Lord Shamus and Isabella Munroe were having a heated argument in the back of Elysium that eventually descended into fisticuffs. What is know is that when Isabella re-appeared, she applied to be one of Shamus' advisors, and gave the following reasons why she should be chosen:

She then looked perplexed and reportedly said "Then again, I have better things to do with my time", got up, and walked away.

The city was in a state of uncertainty. After the revolt against the Sabbat and the liberation of the territory within the box earlier in the month, a counter-attack had been expected, but none had come as yet. It was rumoured that enemy spies had been seen, but none of these rumours had been confirmed. Everyone waited.

Some strange stories were passed around this night about Santino, the Sabbat warden who had been killed at the last Elysium. Some claimed that he had more humanity than one would expect of a member of the Sabbat. And it was said this fact was known because the warden had been diablerized.

The Box still held its prisoners, and showed no signs of disappearing, even though the control center had moved. Sabbat patrols had been seen on the other side of its walls, and they made one wonder if they themselves believed, as most of those trapped inside did, that the Box was impenetrable. Since the conquest of Toronto, surprising few Kindred had investigated or researched the Box to try and find a way out, and few did so now. Other than a few Tremere, those that did so seemed to be members of the independent clans, such as the Setites, the Ravnos, and the Razor Children. Perhaps this was because they knew that they could not rely on outside help, where as many of the clans that were traditionally members of the Camarilla still dreamed that they could.
