What has happened...What
we hope will happen...Where to Go, What to See...and anything
else that comes to mind
My big news is that I am no
longer at A Place to Paint. Ian can easily fill the space with
his paintings and I found having 2 kid's classes a week kept me
from painting as much as I want to. I have to make hay while the
sun shines!
I will still maintain the website
and update the pages. If you have pictures of your work you would
like posted please e-mail them to me. This includes ex-students
who are working at home.
To try and get back to painting
I have recently been painting a 5"x7" little still life
mostly every day. You can see them on my Blog
- A Place to Hang
You will find
a lot of painters doing these daily paintings if you go to http://www/dailypainters.com
but one I especially like is Qiang-Huang. I subscribe to his
feed and get pictures of his paintings via e-mail. More favourite
links at the bottom of this page.
I thoroughly enjoyed the movie
Hairspray.
I bought a new painting [I
REALLY need more paintings - if you could see my house!] at the
AWOL Square Foot Exhibition which closes Saturday, September
1. Anyone can put 3 12"x12" paintings in this show for
a $15.00 fee. It is too late for this year but if you are interested
e-mail them and ask them to add you to their mailing list and
start painting for next year. All the paintings sell for $200.00
and the artist gets $100.00. If they sell - I have only sold one
but I like the people and I think it is a great idea. When I pick
up the painting I bought I will post it on my Blog.

WHAT MAKES MY LIFE
EASIER
Firefox - I love this browser!
Spray Tabasco Sauce in and
around your re-cycle bin - The city of Toronto tells me it will
keep the Racoons away and it seems to be working. I just put a
couple of drops on the lid. The garbage men or women won't take
your bin with a bungie cord on it - at least mine won't!
I am a Charlie Rose fan - now,
instead of catching him at 11 PM, I can watch a video of his complete
interview on his site the following morning. Great!
Expert Village has video instruction
on everything from Grooming Josie to Drawing a Human.
Fun for kids - buy a huge piece
of gessoed canvas and put it on the floor or the grass for painting.
Have them paint various size "frames" for their masterpieces.

I haven't many years
left ahead of me and I must devote all my time to painting, in
the hope of achieving something worthwhile in the end, something
if possible that will satisfy me. (Claude Monet)
