Julie Manyee Lui CMRP
|
Julie has been a research practitioner for 20+
years conducting qualitative and quantitative studies with the ethnic and English
markets and examining issues on positioning, image/equity, advertising, ethnography,
attitudes, behaviour and customer care.
Well versed in projective techniques, she moderates groups in Cantonese,
Mandarin, English and Italian. She
is likely the researcher who has the most learning about ethnic markets. In
fact, she was the first researcher that raised awareness of the strengths of
diversity and has been recognized as an authority in studying ethnic groups
in Canada. She knows how to cut through the culture and language to make the
correct appeal to a group’s sentiments and rationality. With profound insights of cultural
predispositions, mindset and lifestyle, Julie knows how to get the best
results and interpret responses to their true intent. Over the course of her career, she
has achieved a reputation for integrity and helping clients build successful
brands. She has spoken
on the subject of marketing to new Canadians at several conferences including
the PMRS National Conference, Strategic Conference New York, MacLean Hunter
Marketing Conference and written articles on this subject for several
marketing and advertising journals.
After
receiving a Master’s degree in Sociology from University of Illinois, she
started her career in marketing research in Toronto. Prior to establishing her own
business, Julie held research positions at Nestlé, RJR, Young & Rubicam
advertising. She has solid
experience from the corporate, ad agency and supplier sides. She has a CMRP
designation (Certified Marketing Research Professional) of the MRIA
(Marketing Research & Intelligence Association, Canada), and is a
Certified Advertising Agency Practitioner (CAAP) of the Institute of Canadian
Advertising. In addition, she
holds a Piano Teaching Diploma L.R.S.M. (Licentiate of the Royal Schools of
