The above is from British cartoonist Annie Lawson's I Talk to Cats (Deirdre Macdonald Books, 1995. Book, paraphernalia, and catalogues available from the author at PO Box 910, London SE14 6DD, England.)

I Talk to Cats is one of the books Simone pulls off dad's bookshelf and forces us to read, though it isn't really a kids' book. She named her stuffed mouse (a present from Grandpa Art and Grandma Marg) "Babette Miranda", after the name Annie Lawson wanted to give to her own cat. A few days later, she began calling her new little girl doll (a present from Grandma Nancy) "Annie Lawson".

To complicate things further, Babette Miranda, Annie Lawson and the two white rabbits often are made to act out another story -- a children's book by Kevin Henkes called "Chrysanthemum", about a young mouse who is mocked by other young mice because of the length of her name.

Another Annie Lawson cartoon story which Simone likes can be seen here.
