Large Maedate decoration for helmet, rare Shintoism sacred Shimenawa-rope design. Carved wood with lacquered and gilded and two zigzag paper piece shape metals hanging down and four rice-straw shape bamboo pieces hanging from the rope. Round metal decoration at the bottom of circle may added later or cleaned? Two holes at bottom to attach to helmet made slightly off centre. The Shimenawa purifies anything it is put around. Condition: Aged cracks and some repaired area. Size: 30 cm X 31.5 cm Edo period. Price: U.S.$900.
