Porcelain Mizusashi (ewer) by SEIFU YOHEI ( -1863)
Painted in underglaze-blue with six different pictures.
Signed: Seifu (interior of the cover) Seifu chitsu (bottom of ewer)
Size: Height: 21.5 cm
Condition: End of front handle was repaired.
Note: He was son of a Samurai family in Kanazawa. Became a pupil of Dohachi in Kyoto around c.1820. Opened his own kiln in 1844 at Gojohachi in Kyoto and specialized in blue and white porcelain, celadon. In his late years, he was invited by Iki Sansai of Bizen Clan and helped for developing the Mushiaki ware there.
