692 Yonge St. Next to the Scientology building, there's three floors and two patios, each with its own unique atmosphere. Tiled floors and red/green brick facades make downstairs homey, while the second-floor bias-free bar is more akin to 1970's livingrooms. The special grilled calamari ($5.25) is crisped but moist on the inside, with a strong caesar dip. The New Orleans Cajun Salad ($8.25) is covered in chicken breast strips blackened with cajun pepper, with a variety of rarer greens. Baked brie ($6.95) is breaded with a raspberry coulis served with fresh fruit and toast-- surely a king's breakfast. Phad Thai noodle ($11.25) is free of oil, and the vegetables are sharp; a generous portion with much meat. Louisiana raspberry chicken ($10.95) is tender and succulent, grilled spicy crisp and dripping with sweet raspberry fruit essence, but the alfredo is too heavy for the dish. Overpriced alcohol. |
