Korean Village

Wind chimes and bamboo, wood and white paper tones invite diners into private booths or to the pleasant sushi bar. With soft music, the effect is earthy and romantic. Some of the booths are totally private, others are semi-private and some seating is open.

The menu is huge, with over 115 Korean, Japanese and even Chinese items.

The place is famous for its endless freebies: bottomless bowls of pickles, beans, seaweed, kimchi, potatoes, and even egg cakes. Fried dumplings ($8.50) have half-soft, half-cunchy rice-paper shells hiding gently marinated meat. The appetizer sashimi ($10) is a deal with a wide array of raw fish, all fresh and seasoned.

The bul go ki dinner presents soup and rice with a massive sizzling plate of spicy beef, tender and steaming, and Hwe Dup Bap ($12) brings slices of raw, soya-marinated fish with rice and soup. Excellent lunch specials ($7.25-10.95).
