Northern Exposures

All Kevin really wanted to do was miss a day of school when he entered the 'Capture Mississauga' photography contest sponsored by the local newspaper. However his strange collage photo - the result of a faulty shutter - wins the contest and his prize is a trip way up North to Churchill Manitoba to take pictures with a famous National Geographic photographer. He gets to take pictures of the most fascinating and fearsome animal on earth - the polar bear. Kevin gets more than he bargained for when the term 'close-up' means more than just taking a picture.

Ricky
Ricky seems more comfortable with animals than he does with people. That's probably because he's had more practice. His room is home to six squirrels, turtles, birds, lizards and a two foot long alligator. Maybe the only person who loves animals as much as Ricky is his grade eight science teacher, Mr. Johnston. Aside from other assorted animals he has in his class is a 2 meter long boa constrictor named Bogart who moves freely around the room as the students work. One weekend some thugs break into the school, destroying property and injuring Bogart so badly he must be 'put to sleep'. Ricky, along with his best friend, Augie, decides that not only isn't this fair, but that they have to do something to help make things right.
Based on the real life happenings of the author.

Death By Exposure
They really shouldn't have gone tobogganing there - it was too dangerous. The discovery of two feet sticking out of the ice and the search for the identity of this long lost "ice man" define this very different picture book, which combine real pictures, story starters, geography and a mystery adventure.
