film 'Full Contact' had it's World Premiere screening at the
2015 Toronto International
Film Festival on September 15th. Grégoire
was in
attendance for the
screening, possibly the first time he has been at the Toronto
Film Festival.

Grégoire has appeared in the French
mini series 'L'épervier' in France. This six episode
series for channel France 2 started airing
in June. There is a five part series on the 'Making
Of L'épervier' on YouTube, Part 4
has a small interview clip with Grégoire (links below). He
plays a pirate named Cha-Ka in the series.
No news on a North American airing of the series yet.

Not much news to report, I've just updated
the Filmography section as Grégoire has been
working on a few new films.

Grégoire Colin
had the honour of having his first short film 'La baie du renard' (Fox
Bay)
screened at the Cannes
Film Festival as a closing night special screening. Grégoire
wrote
and directed the
12 minute film about a young teenager that spends time patrolling the creeks
of a small bay
with his underwater spear gun. After a couple puts down anchor in the bay
in a large wooden sailboat,
he watches their lives with a desire that quickly transforms into
an obsession. Click here

Grégoire has set up his own production
company called Tsilaosa Films to distribute his works
including 'Fox Bay'. Unfortunately the film
will not be screened at the Toronto International
Film Festival this year, if I receive word
of any screenings at other festivals I will update
the website with the information.
Grégoire's film '35 Rhums' directed
by his friend Claire Denis is set for release on DVD
in Canada on October 20th, order here.
Evokative Films in
Montreal released Grégoire's 2007 film 'The Killer' on DVD
on March 10th.
The DVD also includes director Cédric
Anger's first short feature 'Novela' from 2001 that
also stars Grégoire ('Novela' is

Sorry for the lack of updates, lots of information to tell you about. Grégoire Colin has completed filming the latest film written and directed by his friend Claire Denis titled '35 rhums'. The film is scheduled for release this year, I wouldn't be surprised if it is screened at the upcoming Toronto International Fim Festival in September. In this family relationship drama Grégoire plays Noé, who inherited his apartment from his parents and lives in the same building as train driver Lionel who lives with his daughter Josephine in a Parisian suburb.
Grégoire has also been working on
the film 'If Only The Whole World Loved Me' (Nanayomachi)
that was written
and directed by Naomi Kawase. In this film a young woman leaves her job
and
lover in Japan
to start a new life in Thailand.
Great news! The visually stunning 1995 Milcho Manchevski film 'Before The Rain' is finally getting a DVD release in North America. This special edition will be released as part of the Criterion Collection and is due out on June 24th, with lots of special features, here's the list:

In January of this year the Cédric Anger thriller 'Le Treur' (The Killer) was released with Grégoire playing the role of Dimitre Kopas. It looks like DVD of the film is scheduled for release in France on August 20th, 2008.
Also just released on DVD in France is Grégoire's film 'Voleurs de chevaux'. Picture This are releasing the film with the English title 'In The Arms Of My Enemy' in North America on August 26th, 2008.
The great movie 'Olivier Olivier' has been released on PAL format DVD in the U.K.. Apparently it isn't the greatest quality release, read more about that here.

film 'La Ravisseuse' (A Song Of Innocence) directed by Antoine Santana

be screened in Toronto
on Friday March 31st at 9:30 pm as part of the 2006 Cinéfranco Movie
Series. The screening
will take place at the Royal Cinema at 608 College Street in downtown
Toronto. For

The film 'Inquiétudes'
starring Grégoire was just released in Canada on DVD on February
28th by Warner Home Video under the title 'A Sight For Sore Eyes'. I watched
it last night and enjoyed it very much, quite a different sort of role
for Grégoire.

currently filming and is directed by Antoine Santana. The other film titled

rendre' is directed by Raoul Ruiz and is in post production. Once I get

Last night I saw the
new Claire Denis film L'Intrus (The Intruder) at the Toronto International
Film Festival that
stars Grégoire Colin. He plays a son of the main character and does
a great
job as usual, and
the film is visually stunning as most of her films are. I suggested to
Claire
Denis that she should
bring Grégoire with her next time he is in one of her films at the
festival
and she said he was
supposed to come to Toronto for this screening but a sudden commitment
prevented him from
coming.

In L'Intrus, conventional narrative storytelling
has been replaced by an attempt to tell a
story in purely visual and aural terms.
The dialogue has been stripped down to bare essentials,
while the image - sumptuous Cinemascope
colour shot with incomparable skill by Agnès Godard -
assumes a privileged position. At a point
in time when dialogue-driven projects and the primacy
of the script reign across the world, it
is most refreshing and encouraging to see that artists
of distinction are still creating films
that make us realize there are other options available.
L'Intrus - literally "the intruder" - is
a film that comes at us in shards, pieces of reality that
Denis challenges us to assemble. We are
taken to the French-Swiss border, where we follow a
number of different people who move like
ghosts through the woods. Faces we have seen in
shadow may reappear, but we are never sure
how or why. Gradually our focus comes to rest
on a white-haired man, Louis (Michel Subor),
who takes money out of a Swiss bank and ends
up somewhere in Asia. Slowly, the fragments
of Denis's deliberately foggy narrative start
to come together as we discover Louis is
trying to reconcile parts of his past with events in
the present.

Grégoire's
film Snowboarder is being released on Region 1 DVD in Canada on April 13th
through
Lion's Gate Films.
They have added 'Born To Ride' under the Snowboarder title on the artwork
for the North American
market. It looks like extra features are the trailer and a bit on the
making of the film.
From what I can tell it looks like instead of English Subtitles you have
the
option of listening
to it in French or in dubbed English.

Distribution/Universal

I saw Grégoire's
new film "Scènes Intimes" (Sex Is Comedy) this week and as usual
he has
a great performance.
Gregoire also has a one line part in the new Claire Denis film 'Vendredi
Soir" which I just
saw tonight at the Toronto International Film Festival. He is credited
as
'The Young Man in
The Parka', and just has one line as the main female character offers him
a lift in her car
and he says he would rather walk (during a Paris transit strike). I spoke
briefly
to the director after
the film and asked her why Grégoire took such a small part in the
film and
Claire Denis said
'It was an inside joke ... he wanted to be part of the project.' Claire
Denis also
dedicated the screening
of her film to Katrin Cartlidge who died died of septicemia resulting from
pneumonia at the age of 41 in London on Sept. 7th, 2002 in London.
Katrin appeared in Grégoire's
film 'Before The Rain'.

the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival this September, According
to the film company just the director Catherine Breillat will be attending.
The screening dates and times are: Wednesday, September 11th at 9pm

8 cinema.

Grégoire is
in the cast of a new film titled "Scènes Intimes", written and
directed by
Catherine Breillat
(Fat Girl). Additional cast members include Roxane Mesquida, Anne Parillaud
(La Femme Nikita)
and Ashley Wanninger. The movie was shot in Portugal and unmasks the
filmmaking process.
The film is both a comedy and a subject of reflection, with Parillaud
playing a film director,
not unlike Breillat, shooting a movie that contains erotic scenes.

January 23 at 1.00 p.m.

The film "The Son
of Gascogne" that Grégoire is in has just been released on DVD in
North
America through Vanguard
Cinema. I just bought it and watched it as I had never seen the film and
it
is pretty good! Just
a warning if you decide to buy the DVD that the quality isn't as good as
you may be used to
with more recent films on DVD. It is fine, but not as sharp and crisp as
the
newer films.

in Montreal,
Quebec this Friday,

I just got back from seeing Grégoire's
new film "Sade" and it was great. Grégoire
plays the character Fournier who is living with the former wife/mistress
of the Marquis De Sade. The director Benoît
Jacquot was at the screening along with the actress Isild Le Besco who
plays a teenager who falls in love with the Marquis. Grégoire's
role was a supporting one but he did a great job as usual. I talked to
the Benoît Jacquot after the screening and I asked him why he picked
Grégoire for the role. He said "He
is very well known French actor, I know him very well."

Grégoire's
new movie "Sade" will actually be the first film shown at this year's Toronto
International Film Festival in Toronto. It's first screening is scheduled
for 6pm on Thursday, September 7th, 2000 at the Varsity 8 Cinema. The second
screening will be at the Uptown 1 theatre on Friday September 8th, 2000

One of Grégoire's
newer films is set to show at this year's Toronto International Film Festival.
The film "Sade" by director Benoît Jacquot is due to be part of the
Contemporary World Cinema section of the Festival. The schedule comes out
next week at which time I will post the screening times. It would be nice
if Gregoire came to the Festival but we will have to wait and see.

Just read that Grégoire has two films scheduled for release this year, "Variété française" directed by Frédéric Videau, and "Sade" directed by Benoît Jacquot. Once I get more information on these movies I will post it.

New Yorker Films has
acquired the rights to Grégoire's new film, "Le Beau Travail". The
company intends to release the movie in Winter/Spring 2000.

The film "Secret Defense" starring Grégoire Colin has just opened in New York and was reviewed in the Nov. 19th issue of the New York Times. The video for this movie is also for sale from MovieMail in the U.K.. It is in PAL VHS format so it would need to be tranfered to NTSC for people in North America. Click here to get to their web site, the video comes to a total of 18.49 pounds to ship internationally. I have not ordered it yet so I cannot comment on the service provided by this company.
Siren Entertainment in Australia is selling a PAL VHS version of Grégoire's film "Fiesta", which again would need to be transfered to NTSC for North American fans. It comes to a total of $38 Australian to ship to North America, click here to go to Siren Entertainment's web site. I have ordered this video and will comment on the service provided once I receive it.
The video for the film "Nenette And Boni" is also for sale in the U.S., with a high list price of around $89.95, priced high for the video store market. If it ever gets reduce to consumer pricing I will let you know. "The Dreamlife Of Angels" has also been released on DVD and video in the U.S., available from several on-line stores like CDNow and Amazon.

I saw Grégoire's
new film LE BEAU TRAVAIL at the Toronto International Film Festival
on September 16th. The film was visually
stunning, the African landscape was amazing. Grégoire
plays a soldier in the French Foreign Legion
stationed in Africa. Unfortunately neither
Grégoire
or the director Claire Denis were at the screening.

Grégoire's recent film "The Dreamlife Of Angels" has been released in the U.S. through Sony Pictures Classics, and in Canada through b'heivje(r). The reviews have been great, and some of the advertising does show Grégoire in it which is nice to see.
Still hoping to get in touch with Grégoire to get the latest developements with his career and life, but no luck as yet.

"Before The Rain"
GREGOIRE COLIN (Kiril) has
been acting in theatre and film since he was 12 years-old. At eighteen,
he already has ten film credits to his name. He first garnered attention
in Britain with his role in Agnieska Holland's "Olivier, Olivier." Since
then, he has completed "L'Anee De L'Eveil" and, most recently, "Le
Silence D'Ailleurs." Colin enjoys playing jazz music, especially on his
cello, and has also begun writing screenplays. Gregoire was
born on July 25, 1975 in Châtenay-Malabry, Hauts-de-Seine,
France.
GREGOIRE COLIN describing the
character of Kiril from "Before the Rain": "Kiril is enigmatic,
and because of his choice of silence, we can never really discover who
he is. He wants to be a hero. He does not see or feel the political
problems but has a romantic notion about the conflict."

he is not a sympathetic character. The actor didn't play him to
attract sympathy.
GREGOIRE COLIN: What I realized
after I read the screenplay was that this was not an easy
part. Do I have this side
to me? Can I feel this nervous? The answer is yes, and I did it. At the
same time, I realized other
things to be exploited. He was an unpleasant character one could
meet everyday. He was a horrible
person with power. But it's part of human life. He is a bastard.
But we leave him when he stops
being the torturer.
ERICK ZONCA: He's not an abominable character.
GREGOIRE COLIN: Others consider him that way. I don't despise him.

had a difficult delivery and is in no hurry to make more babies. He would

and plans to produce one as quickly as possible. Charlotte was educated
in a convent from age 8
to 17 and loved the brief exposure she had to Paris before Julien proposed
and parked her in the
country. Never having wondered how it is that Angele-Marie has breast milk,
Charlotte's shocked
to learn that her nursemaid gave birth mere days before she did and farmed
out her own child to
yet another wet nurse in the countryside in order to earn wages nursing
a rich child. Charlotte
should maintain a strictly master-servant relationship with her daughter's
wet nurse, but the two
teenagers share a girlish complicity of which Julien violently disapproves.
Flashbacks in which
Julien and his doctor friend Rodolphe (Frederic Pierrot) audition Angele-Marie
in a part-harem,
part-brothel setting where poor new mothers bare their swelling breasts
to formally clad upper
class men is hauntingly frank and original. Set on the cusp of the advent
of child-rearing practices
closer to the 21st century model, pic touches on motherly love, the family
unit and how much of a
hand a woman should have in her own child's early upbringing. Study of
what happens when the
strict rules of subservience blur isn't quite as richly explored as it
could be, but the novelty of
the topic, burnished lensing and convincing thesping conspire to create
the impression of something
new.

our focus comes to rest
on a white-haired man, Louis (Michel Subor), who takes money out of a Swiss
bank and ends
up somewhere in Asia. Slowly, the fragments of Denis's deliberately foggy
narrative start
to come together
as we discover Louis is trying to reconcile parts of his past with events
in
the present.

is a woman of about forty, free, modern and a private-eye. Free because

not in the traditional sense, more like a taxi driver, a job with attachments,
where she brings
a little of others' lives home with her at night. She looks for missing

forgotten its existence. The whims of her profession put her in contact

usually for the
police but which scoops her up and lays her down right in the middle of
all her own contradictions:
principles, ethics, fairness, morality and maybe even, for the first time,

Manchevski's first feature film is a three-part story of the violence and
political chaos
tearing apart the newly independent nation of Macedonia (former Yugoslavia).
In part one,
Kiril (Grégoire Colin), an Orthodox monk, encounters Zamira (Labina
Mitevska), a Muslim from
Albania. Zamira is frightened and has nowhere to go, so Kiril lets her
stay in his cell, knowing
that if the authorities find her, his peaceful life will be shattered.
The second segment, set in
London, concerns Anne (Katrin Cartlidge), married to stable but boring
Nick (Jay Villiers) but
enjoying an affair with Macedonian photographer Aleksander (Rade Serbedzija);
Anne is trying
to decide if she should stay with Nick or leave with Aleksander, before
unexpected events
make the decision for her. The conclusion follows Aleksander back to Macedonia;
while he's
tired of photographing war, he finds no sanctuary in his home town, as
Christians and Muslims
wage war and he accidentally causes the death of innocent bystanders. Before
the Rain received
an 1995 Academy Award nomination as Best Foreign Language Film

the occupants.
Needless to say, the police round them up an hour later. In normal circumstances,
everything would
then have returned to normal. But the elderly folks, normally cut off from
the rest of the world,
have suddenly had their interest aroused. And so these people who hardly
ever left the retirement
home now head off into town, in order to find out more about the two kids
...

he will die in that
far-away place. While he sees himself as stubbornly principled, others,
including the school's
bullies, simply see him as stubborn and a nuisance besides. In fact, his
humiliation by the
school's bullies is so constant that one of his persistent fantasies is
to become a skilled boxer
and trounce them all. That is one reason why he has become fixated on one
of the school's
military instructors, a handsome sergeant who was a championship boxer.
While there may be
an unformed erotic component to his fixation, it does not manifest overtly
but adds fuel to
his sexual initiation with the sergeant's wife.
