Oscar Francois de Jarjeyes - Raised as a man by her father, General
Jarjeyes, she is a beautiful and intelligent young woman, who becomes the
commander of Marie Antoinette's bodyguards, and the Queen's close friend.
While a compassionate person, she tends to suppress her own feelings beneath a
shield of strict duty. However, as her intense loyality to the Queen and Crown
is slowly tested as she learns of the plight of the poor in France, her
internal conflicts may force her to make a dramatic break with her old life.
General Jarjeyes - Oscar's father, whose desperation for a son to carry
on the family's duties leads him to proclaim Oscar a boy at her birth. He is
very proud of his "son's" skills and accomplishments. But his rigid sense of

beings to question the state of affairs in France. [Historical]

childhood, he's her constant companion, and the person she can talk to
most freely about her own emotions and troubles. His feelings for her obviously run much deeper than he expresses to her, but he is
too conscious of the social gap that separates them. But for her, he would
do anything. A caring and level-headed individual.
