Maybe you've heard the remixes of this Australian experimenter's "wire music" on a previous release with Thomas Koner, Ryoji Ikeda, Bernhard Gunter and Lustmord. Now here's the highly recommended originals they worked with. This is Lamb's second disc documenting the dynamic sound of the vibrating telegraph wires that he discovered abandoned in the wilds of Australia and called the Faraway Wind Organ. Unfortunately, this will be the last such recordings because the lines have since been destroyed by lightning and termites. Night Passage features two tracks of the industrial-edged drone harmonics produced when the wind finds the resonant frequencies of the wires - a kind of environmental approach to Alvin Lucier's Music On A Long Wire concept. Also included is "Meditation On Spring 8" played on a new wind organ he built for a Japanese event. In this piece he actively bows the strings, creating a sound similar to American Ellen Fullman's music. Technology may be involved but Alan Lamb's remarkable music is all too natural.
