Nova Scotia Dojos |
There are six Tsuruoka karate-do clubs in Nova Scotia. (Island Karate in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, is also an affiliate of Metro Karate, the Nova Scotia hombu dojo in Dartmouth.)
Nova Scotia is the host of what is reputed to be Canada's hardest karate training camp (gassuku). The 3 day event is held annually during the Labour Day weekend. Training starts at 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening with 1½ hours on and 2 hours off, 'round the clock, until Sunday at 2:00 p.m. This yearly event brings in karate-ka from all major styles from as far away as the ten provinces, the territories and the eastern states.
Metro Karate, the hombu, hosts an annual Interclub Tournament for all its affiliated clubs in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, held the first week in June. Clubs compete to bring home the Interclub Trophy for the year.

East Preston KarateLocated 10 minutes from Dartmouth, the East Preston dojo is in the new Recreation Hall.
Classes for children, aged 6-13 years, are provided twice a week.
Metro Karate HombuLocated at 18 Rosedale Drive in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, the dojo is situated between the two bridges connecting the Twin Cities (Halifax/Dartmouth). It is housed in a large warehouse complex featuring 4,000 square feet of open dojo space, complete changing rooms for males and females, as well as a common lounge with fridge, microwave, TV, tables and sofas for out of town guests.
Classes for adult coloured belts are given Monday, Wednesday and Friday, for adult white belts Tuesday and Thursday, and for children on Monday and Wednesday.

Breton Karate ClubThe Breton Karate Club is located in Florence, North Sydney, on the island of Cape Breton in northeastern Nova Scotia, 4½ hours from Halifax on the other side of the world famous Cape Breton Highlands and the Cabot Trail.
The club works out of the Florence Church Hall three days a week, Monday and Wednesday evenings, and Saturday mornings.

Lake Echo Tsuruoka Karate-DoThe Lake Echo dojo is located off the No. 7 highway on the eastern shore, 20 minutes from the city of Dartmouth. It is housed in a new sports complex on beautiful Lake Echo.
Adults and childrens classes are taught three days a week on Monday and Wednesday evenings, and on Saturday mornings.

Northumberland Karate ClubOne of the oldest established karate clubs in Nova Scotia, the Northumberland Karate Club works out of the Michelin Athletic Centre in Granton, Pictou County, just five minutes from the Trans Canada Highway, North Eastern, and 20 minutes from the Prince Edward Island ferry terminal
The dojo trains three days a week, Sunday, Monday and Wednesday evenings.

Kings Karate ClubLocated in the Valley Region of Nova Scotia, the dojo operates three days a week out of the Michelin Tire Athletic Centre in Waterville, just 10 minutes from downtown Kentville.
Classes are offered Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.
