From the head detail in this photograph it may be difficult to envisage that this bird is no more than 3.5" in length. Like its cousin the White-bearded Manakin, the males of this species also perform a courtship dance but this is practised along tree branches rather than in "courts" on the ground. This little forest gem is always visible along the Asa Wright nature trails in Trinidad.
