This relatively rare beautiful bird sports the national colours of Trinidad and Tobago:
red, white and black. Despite its rarity it can often be observed around the Lake of the Pointe-a-Pierre
Wild Fowl Trust. Visiting birders to Trinidad should not fail to include this sanctuary in their itinerary.
The Trust is dedicated mainly to the breeding of endangered species of local Wild Fowl and releasing
them back into the wild.
