These large birds live in close proximity to water, as their diet consist
almost entirely of fish which they catch by foraging beneath the surface. On emerging they
they may toss the fish several times into the air until it is aligned head first with the long bill.
This prevents the dorsal fin bones from sticking in the bird's throat.
