ANDREW NEIL OLSCHER
was
schooled as a classical, jazz and commercial musician, having worked as
both a freelance writer and actor, Andrew has relied on his extensive
artistic background to produce dynamic paintings, vibrant in colour, thick
in texture and distinctive in style.
Drawing on a rich, multi-cultural
heritage and past artistic experience, Andrew asserts that there should be
no bounds to one's artistic endeavors.
"Your pallet should be
diverse and your style free, if you really wish to make an impression.
It's how you use the elements of colour, movement and depth that really
determines if the composition of your work, be it painting, writing, music
or acting is successful, " he says.
Andrew's work, executed mainly in
acrylic, watercolour and mixed media, reflects a variety of emotions,
whether it be the pensive reflection of his commemorative work, "Vimy,
April 1917 - Poppies At The Foot Of The Ridge", or the relaxing,
earthy sensuality of his some of his textured, floral jungle and forest
undergrowth scenes.
"I like abstracts because they challenge the
imagination of both the artist and the viewer of the completed work. It's
purely coincidental if both minds meet. The more impressionistic floral
images that I use in some of my paintings provide a "handle" for
the viewer who prefers a starting point from which to begin exploring the
colours and textures. The most important thing, is that whether it be in
the context of being emotionally dark, light, or somewhere in between,
your work should be challenging and in one form or other
entertaining." Andrew says.
