 Derech Eretz Campaign 99/2000

By Adina Abramov, 02-Dec-1999

Associated Hebrew Schools Launches "Derech Eretz" Campaign

Promotion of Respect, Cooperation, Friendship and Tolerance Set as Priority

Good manners and respect for others are two lessons that will be emphasized to Associated Hebrew Schools 2,300 children as part of this year's "Derech Eretz" campaign. The program, which was initiated and well received at the Posluns and Danilack branches last spring, promotes positive behavior by students. Associated Hebrew Schools prides itself on its academic excellence in the Hebrew and General Studies faculties. Both are complimented by the traditional value of Derech Eretz. Students at the Elementary level are rewarded for their good behavior, while the Junior High has implemented an end-of-term "Derech Eretz Honor Roll". Teachers informally inject the ideals of Derech Eretz into their curriculums. As Danilack campus General Studies Principal Jackie Weintraub explained, "We want it to become so much a part of you that you don't have to think about it".
