 Computer Training for Teachers

By Adina Abramov, 02-Dec-1999

ASSOCIATED GOES HIGH TECH

TEACHERS PARTICIPATE IN COMPUTER TRAINING AND OTHER INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS

Thursday, December 02, 1999

Associated Hebrew Schools teachers were recently given the tools to upgrade their computer skills. Associated has been a leader in the integration of computers into everyday teaching, a trend that is rapidly catching on across North America. A special P.D. day provided in depth computer training for pre-school teachers. Currently, all Associated Senior and Junior Kindergarten classrooms are outfitted with a computer. This is in part thanks to a Compugen donation. The Libraries at each of the three campuses of Associated have Windows based computers for Hebrew research, as well as additional machines for Internet access. Posluns centre classrooms have three machines each, all of which are networked. Additional PCs were recently allocated to the Danilack campus, where currently there are two stand-alone machines per classroom. The Kamin branch is following closely with two stand-alone computers in each of the five grade six classrooms. Teachers have already received instruction on working within the network. Plans to upgrade the wiring systems at the Hurwich (Finch) and Kamin branches are also underway.
