JACQUELINE
HERMAN |
With
her parents’ support
she relocated to Canada as a foreign student. Since then she has successfully
studied at several universities across Canada including the University
of Calgary, the University of Western Ontario, Ontario Institute for
Studies in Education and the University of St. Michael’s College. |
Prior
to her departure she successfully approached numerous publishers, municipal
and provincial officials to secure and transport much needed resources
to W. D. Hendricks School in Cape Town, South Africa. There
she facilitated workshops and worked collaboratively with South African
teachers in their classrooms, modeling and supporting the implementation
of a Balanced Literacy program. She continues to share this experience and to encourage Canadian students and community members to donate basic school supplies and raise funds annually to the Lunch Program at W.D. Hendricks Primary School. Jacqueline is currently an elementary school principal. As a principal in the Halton Catholic District School Board she conscientiously promotes a passion for learning, facilitates opportunities to advance literacy skills and strives to create a professional learning community which supports a climate of success for all students. Jacqueline is a highly motivated lifelong learner, sets high standards, establishes expectations via precept and example and continues to seek new challenges. Through her leadership she encourages all people to advocate for equity and fulfill their aspirations. |
