Daft Records
created Dec 23rd, 1997
KK Records North America is pleased to announce a distribution deal with Dirk Iven's Daft Records label from Belgium. Daft's catalogue is now available at domestic North American prices.
Iven's is the former vocalist for the EBM group Klinik and is known for his uncompromising electronic music as Dive and now Sonar. His Daft Records label is equally tuned to the traditions of underground electronic music, as seen from his collected artists tribute to New York pioneers Suicide, We're All Frankies. Iven's post Kraftwerk electronic music aesthetic is inspired by the minimalism of Suicide and the hard-edged Industrial beats of Spain's Esplendor Geometrico. Through Daft he is able to focus on the best of the underground - both new recordings and over-looked older sessions.

Formed in 1996 Sonar is the brainchild of Daft label-owner Dirk Ivens (Dive, Blok 57, Klinik) and Patrick Stevens (Hypnoskull, Noshinto). They teamed up to create a new style of electronic-industrial music, extreme but very, very, danceable! Fans of Dive will find these instrumentals much more noisy and concussive. For fans of Noshinto and Hypnoskull the change is even further. The result of this collaboration is a crunching Esplendor Geometrico-style mix of harsh electronics and distorted dance beats!! Check out the Industrial-dance floor fillers "Head Down" and "Main Frame" which are already cult hits at dance clubs in Italy and Spain!!!

Monolith is the new project from Eric Van Wonterghem (ex-member of Klinik and formerly in Insekt). Monolith shows that Van Wonterghem has broken free from the formulas of the EBM style into new combinations of analogue electronics, noise and abstract beats. Compressed Form's instrumentals are a superb example of how he is achieving his musical goals of a forward-looking industrial-dance music. With help from special guest Peter Hoste (who does graphic work as Beyond Mixed Data) Eric's new abstract style surrounds minimalist beats with electrical drones. Like the left-field experiments of Bruce Gilbert and Panasonic, Compressed Form is a remarkable and unpredictable work. The computer-related track titles situate his ideas in a place where digital rules but creativity excells.
Industrial DJs will not want to miss "The Shapeshifter" which pumps with the mechanical drive of Esplendor Geometrico.
Esplendor Geometrico
Tarikat
DCD D1023I $17.99
PLEASE NOTE: Tarikat is 2 CDs for the price of 1!!!
Before the advent of CDs Madrid, Spain's Esplendor Geometrico's hard drum machine sound was only appreciated by the Industrial underground who heard their cassette releases from their self-named label. Now that the Industrial-Dance and EBM styles have put the spotlight on programmed rhythms the mechanical beats of Esplendor Geometrico have found their place in the electronic music scene.
Tarikat is a documentation of EG's production between 1986 and 1989. The 22 new-to-CD tracks include bashing, distorted cuts like "Disco Mitrack", the poly-rhythmic "Huida" and the mechanical funk of "Boabab". The truly industrial music of EG is the soundtrack for the mechanical world we live in!
